GenoSplice leading transcriptomics discovery technology - EASANA® is a bioinformatics solution dedicated to genome-wide gene expression studies using microarrays.

Thanks to 4 years of development within biologists teams experts in splicing (EURASNET), EASANA® is the only platform allowing the biologists to rapidly and easily find relevant results from the Affymetrix Exon Array GeneChip® system and enables the gene expression regulation study at the gene and exon level.

EASANA® can also analyze data from all the other gene expression microarrays (other Affymetrix arrays including the latest Gene Arrays, Agilent microarrays, Illumina microarrays ...).

We are improving EASANA® in order to adapt our exclusive analysis process to other platforms dedicated for splicing study, including microarrays from Jivan Biologics and ExonHit Therapeutics.

To provide high confident results, the EASANA® workflow gathers the following steps:

  1. Quality control on data
  2. Data analysis
  3. Visualization of data in their genomic context

1 - Quality control (QC) on data

For each kind of microarray, we established a control workflow gathering the technical recommendations from the array supplier. Such as a "blood work", our QC assessment show values corresponding to your data compared to the expected min and max values.

2 - Data analysis

This part mainly deals with analysis of data from Exon Arrays that allow gene expression regulation study at gene and exon level.

EASANA® enables the gene expression regulation study at the exon level by detecting alternative splicing events such as:

  • Exon skipping (simple cassette exon, multiple cassette exons, mutually exclusive exons)
  • Alternative 5'/3' splice sites (i.e. alternative exon-intron and intron-exon sites respectively)
  • Intron retention

In addition, EASANA® allows to detect:

  • Alternative promoters
  • Alternative terminal exons

The EASANA® unique analysis process strongly reduces false-positive rate in order to provide the most relevant and high-confident results as possible (until 80% of true positive results after visualization and before RT-PCR validation). Thanks to our Exon array data analysis experience, we know that each Exon Array project has its specificity that must be taking into account for the analysis (e.g. kind of biological material, number of experimental conditions, number of chips/condition, expected effect on exon content...). EASANA® was designed to answer to these specificities by having flexible parameters that we know how to adapt for each situation.

3 - Visualization of data in their genomic context

In addition to its powerful analysis system, EASANA® provides a useful and user-friendly interface to visualize microarray data in their genomic context (click here to test EASANA®).

Figure below corresponds to a small but relevant extract of the EASANA® visualization interface. In this example, cerebellum cells are compared to cells from skeletal muscle:

  • Most of probes are green => CLTB is less expressed in cerebellum cells than in muscle cells
  • Probes targeting exon 5 are red => exon 5 is more included in cerebellum than in muscle

The EASANA® visualization interface allows to:

  • Display data for any gene
  • Check results from analysis (by EASANA® or other systems)
  • Share data with your collaborators
  • Have access to publicly available Exon Array projects: tissues and colon cancer
  • Have access to numerous links, in particular to FAST DB
